In addition to using 100 percent renewable energy during the Games, Paris 2024 is minimizing the use of diesel generators. “The few generators that will have to be used will be powered by biofuel, H2 or batteries,” the organizers reported. “This means that Paris 2024 will offer the first Olympic Games aligned with the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, adopted in 2015.”
Waste Management
Another aspect of the sustainability efforts at the 2024 Olympics is effective waste management. Comprehensive waste reduction strategies are being implemented, including recycling programs and minimizing single-use plastics at all venues. The goal is a circular economy model where materials are reused, recycled, or composted whenever possible to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills.
